Auditions

The show must go on - but it only if there's someone to go on stage!

We'll gather up all the open audition info we can from local theatres and other performing troupes in Reading and share them on this page. And maybe you'll get your shot in the spotlight!

Progress Theatre Auditions

If you are cast for a show, you will need to become a member for legal and safety reasons.

HAMLET by William Shakespeare

Our Open Air production for 2026 is Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, which will run 15-25 July in the historic Reading Abbey Ruins.

This version focuses on the collision of two families — Hamlet’s and Ophelia’s — each destabilised by grief, betrayal, and a mental health crisis. We will foreground the play’s dark humour so that, when the tragedy comes, it lands with full force.

Our Hamlet is young (20).
Our world is outside time — think steampunk.

Open auditions:

  • 7.00pm Wednesday 4 March (if reading for Gertrude or Ophelia, attend this one if you can)
  • 2.00pm Saturday 7 March
