The Retreat is the home of real ale, live music & jazz in Reading.

We host a range of live music events and jazz music sessions as well as special events like the famous Pickled Onion Contest, the Bloody Mary Contest and a Cribbage Tournament.

The Retreat first opened its doors in 1875 and today is one of the last surviving mid-terrace pub in Reading. In 1974 The Retreat was listed in the first-ever CAMRA Good Beer Guide and we were listed again this year.
