General Manager (Maternity Cover) - Reading Rep Theatre

We’re looking for a General Manager to join Reading Rep Theatre on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

You’ll make sure the theatre runs smoothly, safely, and is a welcoming place for everyone — audiences, staff, and performers. You'll manage the Front of House (like box office and customer service) and Back of House (building maintenance and safety).

You’ll also oversee our staff and volunteers, handle schedules, and support events and productions.
We’re looking for someone who has experience managing people, buildings, events and budgets. You should also have a strong knowledge of health and safety and excellent organisational skills.

If you’re passionate about theatre and love working with teams, this role is for you!

  • Start date - Feb 2025. 
  • Salary: 30k- 33k per annum, dependant on experience
  • Hours: Full Time. This is a fixed term maternity cover contract.

Drum Teacher - The Rock Academy

The Rock Academy is growing and they are looking for a drum teacher to join them in January 2025. They have several days of 1-to-1 drum lessons in a school setting during term time. Experience of teaching young people in a 1-to-1 setting, working with grades is essential. A full DBS is preferred, although they can help you to get this if needed.

Reading's Deadlocked Escape Rooms have a casual opening for someone to be trained-up to play "The Reading Witch" in their eponymous new 2 hour immersive horror game.

Would suit a student, an actor or someone else with performance skills. Due to the physicality of the role, they're ideally looking for someone small and athletic. Gender not really important as costume is quite intricate.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A FUN, INCLUSIVE AND SUPPORTIVE DRAMA SCHOOL TO WORK WITH? PERHAPS YOU’RE NEW TO THE AREA?

I am looking for inspiring freelance drama teachers to join our committed team at StageAbility to deliver our drama clubs to primary schools in and around the Reading and Wokingham area.

At StageAbility, we believe that every child can benefit from a drama class, particularly the most shy! Our classes focus on developing confidence and self-esteem first and foremost, so much of our class is based around fun games and drama activities.

Requirements of the role:

  • Experience in teaching drama to children aged 4-11.

  • Enhanced DBS certificate. (StageAbility can process this for right candidate.)

  • First Aid certification is preferred

  • Safeguarding certificate

  • Available some weekdays from 3pm

  • Registered self-employed

£30 for the first hour, £20 per hour thereafter
