Roles at Reading Rep Theatre

Technical and Buildings Manager

£32,610 per annum | Full-time, permanent | 40 hours per week

Reading Rep Theatre is looking for an experienced, practical and collaborative Technical and Buildings Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our theatre.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of our productions, visiting work, hires and events, while also taking the lead on the safe and effective running of our building. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being on the tools as much as they enjoy making sure everything behind the scenes is organised, safe and running smoothly.

This role would suit an experienced theatre technician who is ready to take wider responsibility for the technical and building operation of a small, ambitious producing theatre. You’ll need strong practical theatre experience, good organisational and communication skills, experience of managing people and budgets, and a sound working knowledge of Health & Safety. Experience of theatre and building
maintenance is also important.

IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent relevant Health & Safety training is required, or you must be willing to complete IOSH Managing Safely within three months of starting. You should also be willing to undertake First Aid and Fire Marshal training.

Deadline: 2 September 2026 at 7pm

We are looking for someone who is collaborative, relationship-led and confident working across multiple organisations. This role is about getting the partnership working well, supporting co-design, setting up clear systems and ensuring the firstphase of delivery is ready to progress.

£225 per day

9-month freelance contract | Equivalent of 1.5 days per week, with working patterns to be agreed in line with programme and partnership needs

We will operate a rolling recruitment basis with the role closing 31st August.
