We are very excited to host this masterclass and tasting! Some truly special, liquid from Mezcal Amaras.
But what is Mezcal, you ask (apologies if you already know)? Very simply, Mezcal is a vast category of spirits made from agave, tequila is but a small subset of mezcal, much like bourbon is a kind of whiskey, or Chardonnay is a kind of wine. It has been produced in Mexico from around 1565, but its ancestors date back much, much further than that.
Mezcal Amaras, uphold the traditions and values of this sacred spirit, "the spirit of love".
Amaras grow 12 varieties of Agave within their nurseries. As well as collaborating with other Maestro Mezcaleros to preserve the culture and craftsmanship of the category. Amaras is the first carbon-neutral Mezcal company and nurtures an organic replenishment programme, planting 7 new agaves for each agave harvested. Also, ensuring that Maestro Mezcaleros are payed fairly and on time.
