Alternatively our Front of House team would be more than happy to look after your assistance dog for the duration of the performance. A bowl of water can be provided.
Relaxed Performances
Relaxed performances are open to everyone, but the production and environment has been specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including families with young children, people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. The performances may be adapted in a number of ways in order to reduce anxiety and ensure a safe and enjoyable live theatre experience. There is a relaxed attitude to noise (voluntary and involuntary), the lights in the auditorium remain on low throughout the show, sudden loud noises are softened and audience members are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any point. We also have additional staff on hand to assist with seating and access around the Theatre.
Familiarisation visits for those for whom new venues can cause anxiety are available under arrangement by contacting Barnaby.McArthur@reading.gov.uk
Touch Tours
Additional touch tours are also available on selected shows to help familiarise blind and visually impaired theatre-goers with characters, sets and costumes and provide extra detail to allow patrons to fully engage with the production. Touch tours usually last approximately 30 minutes and take place an hour before the show. To enquire please email Barnaby.McArthur@reading.gov.uk
Seat Size
South Street's raked seating has seats that are approximately 17 inches (43 cm) wide with armrests down, and approximately 20 inches (50cm) with the armrests up.
Aisle seats will allow for a few extra inches space on the aisle side, but any patrons who need more space than this should contact the Box Office on boxoffice@reading.gov.uk, and we will work with you to find an accommodation.
