BBC INTRODUCING & RUSU EVENTS are teaming up to bring live music to your students' union!
Head down to Mojos on Friday 3rd February for some sweet live music!
Check out the artists that will be performing live:
- Maddie Ashman
- Emily Craig
- Henjila
Alex West and Nicky Booty from BBC Introducing Berkshire highlight upcoming local artists, giving you the chance to see the hottest new music in Berkshire, at your students union!
Opening the night is Sandhurst soft pop singer-songwriter Henjila. Coming from an indigenous Nepali background, Henjila has been sustaining a dream for music for the past 11 years. Her unique style and vocal delivery stems from her influences like Bjork, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Amy Winehouse. "My dream is to comfort people through my music. I want to explore multiple topics that challenge today's society whilst also creating songs that you can have fun and chill with."
Next up, Emily Craig, a folk-pop singer-songwriter who cites Eva Cassidy, Haim, and John Mayer amongst her influences. A combination of her love of music, writing and languages influenced Emily to craft a repertoire of original material whilst living in France and Spain. She was inspired by stories of people she met busking on the streets of Granada and jazz jams in Lyon to combine jazz and folk influences with her love of languages.
Finally, Maddie Ashman, our Artist In Residence for February 2023, takes to the stage. Maddie had a big 2022, first being picked as Tom Robinson's Tip on BBC Radio 6Music, then being a runner up in the BBC Radio 1 Introducing Live Lounge competition, before following that up with an appearance on the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival which was one of the most attended sets of the weekend. She's since supported Tom Rosenthal and Alfie Templeman live, and her unique combination of cello and vocals makes her an incredible live proposition.
