BBC Introducing Live ft. Cameron Hayes, Rubee Rayne & Shaz
BBC INTRODUCING & RUSU EVENTS are teaming up to bring live music to your students' union!
Head down to Mojos on Friday 2nd June for some sweet live music!
Check out the artists that will be performing live:
- Cameron Hayes
- Rubee Rayne
- Shaz
Alex West and Nicky Booty from BBC Introducing Berkshire highlight upcoming local artists, giving you the chance to see the hottest new music in Berkshire, at your students union!
Opening the night is Langley's Shaz. This 22 year old British-Indian R&B singer-songwriter spent her childhood traveling the world whilst she studied piano, guitar, singing, and dance. A professional pianist, Shaz’s musical talent for melodies and rhythm is clear in every song she writes. She draws from her vast life experiences in her honest and raw lyricism, whilst her unmistakeably unique voice brings together her smooth soulful sound, emerging with sweet emotion that is unafraid of vulnerability and sure to touch the heart of many.
Next up, we're joined by Rubee Rayne. The Berkshire native and British-Nigerian singer/songwriter brings a self described ‘’genre-fluid’’ blend of R&B. Her evident talent has seen her perform at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, and eventually have demos like ‘’Youth’’ and ‘’Breathe’’ both playlisted on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra stations as BBC’s Introducing track of the Week in two consecutive weeks. She's been described by The Guardian as ‘’a credible Brit-exponent of ethereal R&B. More than credible. Creditable. Verging on incredible.’’
Finally, our Artist In Residence for June 2023, Cameron Hayes, takes to the stage. Cameron has a mix of influences from the Ashnikko, Oliver Tree, and Grandson, to Upsahl and Pixies. After writing and featuring on some massive DnB tracks by Dimension and Sub Focus which have been played on Radio 1 and streamed millions of times, Cameron has now been building her audience on TikTok, where she has nearly 3m likes and 142.9k followers. She describes her style as "bassy guitar music with haunting lyrics."
