We've teamed up with Loddon Brewery to host a tasting in the garden (weather permitting!). Meet the brewer and find out everything there is to know about this local brewery between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. You'll also find them on draft at the bar as our guest beer!

Live Music

Wind down from work and celebrate summer in our garden with live music and a lovely welcome from our friendly team.

We can't wait - for the weekend to begin!

Crumbs!

Sun 30 June, 10:30-11:30pm

Little ones can join us for a biscuit decorating workshop hosted by our friends at The Funky Cookie Company. The perfect weekend activity to keep them occupied - and why not stay on for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings!

The workshop is free to attend but places are limited - secure your spot now

The Rising Sun Inn

Dating back to the 17th century, this historic Grade II listed coaching inn stands as Reading’s oldest pub, steeped in tales and legacies. Surrounded by history with the Abbey only a few minutes walk, the building itself is famous for being the pub with an ancient ‘Norman arch’ door. Oozing with charm, the garden is a shining feature of The Rising Sun, sure to garner attention from the moment you step through the door.

The Rising Sun has undergone an extensive refurbishment to renovate and work its usual magic to the centuries old Inn. Whether you dine inside or out, you are sure to be wowed by our beautiful surroundings. Expect a number of cosy fireplaces, quiet nooks and atmospheric spaces, sure to hit the spot whatever the occasion.

Our beautiful pub offers seasonal and sustainability sourced dishes. Our Sunday roasts are legendary and come with bottomless trimmings. Sip on expertly prepared cocktails as well as an extensive curated wine list. We also have a children’s and Young Hearts menu that offers half portions of selected dishes from our seasonal à la carte menu.

We are dog friendly and offer a dog menu for your four legged friends to enjoy – why not book a dog friendly space to ensure you have a ‘pawsivitly’ perfect time

We look forward to welcoming you with open arms.
