Art on the Paris Metro with Mike Grundy

Art aficionados flock to Paris to see some of the best art in the world, but it’s not only in the top museums and art galleries that interesting artworks are to be found. Beneath the cobbled city streets, Paris’s underground transport network, the Metro, also provides opportunities to enjoy the art of some of the most beautiful and iconic underground stations. From art nouveau structures to symbolic displays of the French Revolution, Metro stations provide inspiration as well as public transport.

Mike Grundy is an expert on the architecture, art and history of the major capital cities of Europe. He studied the History of Art and Architecture at Birkbeck College, London, and has been lecturing to WEA groups since 2013. He has previously given an entertaining presentation to Reading u3a on the Art of the London Underground. Reading u3a is delighted to be welcoming Mike back to this open meeting (non-members welcome) to find out how art on the Paris Metro compares with that on the London Underground.
