Last year 1,247 children took part in The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge at Reading Libraries.  This year the whole family can join in! Children can challenge parents, carers and even their teachers to read alongside them.

Each challenge is free to join and we no longer charge overdue fines.

Mini Challenge – Under 5s

7 x Duplo sets to be won

Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge - primary school children

7 x Lego sets to be won.  Certificate and small prize for all finishers

Book Bingo - teens and adults

7 x Amazon Vouchers to be won

To complete a challenge, you need to read 6 books over 3 visits (Book Bingo, 3 books, over 3 visits).  At each branch, all finishers of each challenge will be entered into a branch prize draw for the chance to win one of our main prizes.

All events are free and drop in.  Donations welcome.

Build a Library Scarecrow

Help us decorate a life size scarecrow that will be on display in the library throughout the summer.  Suitable for all the family

 

Scarecrow Art Competition

Design a scarecrow based on your favourite book character!  Hand your finished entry form to a member of staff on Saturday 24 May.  The winning entry will receive a family ticket to Reading Rep’s Christmas show.  Ages 5 - 11

Palmer Park Library

Join us at Palmer Park Library for a morning full of exciting free activities for all the family.  RISC will be on hand to help you create planters out of recycled containers and your very own nature journal or explore their Story Tent.  There will also be a special Teddy Bears Ryhmetime at 10.30am for younger ones so don’t forget to bring your favourite teddy along!
