Queen Victoria Street I& II Reading. Restore & Regenerate - Consultation

The updated schemes for the sites reflecting the Planning Applications

You are invited to join Reading Civic Society and the Town Planning Bureau to hear about the current proposals for the sites, planning applications having been submitted. 

Location and timing: Haslams Estate Agents, Friar Street, on Wed 2nd November arrive from 6pm for a 6:30pm start.  Refreshments will be provided by Thackeray - the site owner. 

This will be the first physical consultation event about a major planning scheme since the pandemic

The team will explain their proposals to:

1. extend their vision of the approved (Dec 21) restoration and reimagination of the historic buildings on Queen Victoria Street (with the scaffolding up) around into Friar St to the back of WH Smiths building (Queen Victoria Street I.).

2. incorporate the former Bugle PH into a new hotel scheme on the site of the modern building next to it (Queen Victoria Street II).  

The Thackeray Group is a property development and investment company with holdings around the UK. It owns 4 corner blocks in Reading including this group at the corner of Queen Victoria St and Friar Street. https://thackerayestates.com/developments

The presenters, Paul Bottomley and the scheme Architect (of the Town Planning Bureau) will explain the proposals and answer questions.

The planning application numbers are QVPI No 221232 +221233 & Queen Victoria Place II No 221235
