BBC Introducing: Ace Clvrk / Conan Mac / OSP

Alex West and Nicky Booty from BBC Introducing Berkshire highlight upcoming local artists, giving you the chance to see the hottest new music in Berkshire.

Opening the night are hip-hop collective OSP, originally standing for Only Speak Positive. Comprised of Esa Kwame (rapper, beat maker), J Blackz (rapper, singer-songwriter, beat maker), Silqe (rapper, beat maker), and Subject (producer, engineer) – OSP have always strived to become a positive force within the UK’s hip-hop community. While regularly collaborating with other artists alongside producing solo material in recent years, the synergy between the artists as a four has been unparalleled ever since they first came together, as they look to deliver a sound that is lacking from the commercial world.

Next up, Newbury's Conan Mac. Conan has been honing his craft for several years, toplining EDM tracks for internationally renowned DJ’s, writing with and for artists from across the globe. More recently, his focus has been on his pop-based solo project, which he performs with a slick live band.

Finally, BBC Berkshire's Artist In Residence for May 2023, Ace Clvrk, takes to the stage. Formerly known as Du'val, Ace started out by rapping grime cyphers to beats played through the speakers of mobile phones. Quickly discovering a knack for songwriting, he began writing hooks for various local rappers. This would later lead on to professional writing opportunities, including with Warner Chappel Music Group, where he went on to write music that's been used as film and production music worldwide. Now focussed on his solo career, Ace Clvrk has used his songwriting ability to create upbeat pop tracks, which make for a vibrant and moving live set.
