Saint-Saens  Christmas Oratorio op 12

In 1858 Camille Saint-Saëns composed his Oratorio de Noël for five vocal soloists, mixed choir, strings, organ and harp. The work, sung in Latin, is based on texts from the Old and New Testaments, the Psalms and Gospels, as well as the Catholic Christmas liturgy.

Gerald Finzi  In Terra Pax, op.39

This work composed in 1954 is a setting of two verses from Robert Bridges' poem, Noel Christmas Eve. 1913.

It has been described as a radiant optimistic work of great beauty and sincerity. A miniature masterpiece that unites emotions, images and the familiar events of the Christmas story into a compelling musical narrative that is at once personal yet universal.'.  © John Bawden

We'll be delighted if you can join in with us to sing a varied selection of Christmas carols too!
