Workshop: Intuitive Quilting

Sat 3 Dec, 14:00 - 16:00

Join Jelly artist, Kate Powell for this masterclass in creating a quilt sampler from found fabrics or fabrics with personal meaning, breathing life into discarded fabrics and unused clothes.

Many cultures and countries have traditions in reusing and recycling scraps to create quilts and covers. In this workshop you will explore a variety of traditional techniques and begin to create a quilt sampler using the textiles themselves as a starting point. Using the textures, colours and meanings behind the fabrics and discussing prompts to develop a quilt which will hold personal meaning to the individual. This session is an introduction to the hand sewing techniques which can be used to create a larger quilt.

The session will be at a relaxed pace where the participants are welcome to share stories and memories that their fabrics provoke.
