Gel plate Printing -Workshop

Experiment with gel printing using non-traditional printmaking techniques

Sun 12 Jan, 11:00 - 16:00

Experiment with gel plate printing using non-traditional printmaking techniques. You'll be using oil-based printmaking inks (not paint!) and exploring the creative possibilities of making multi-layered monotypes. You'll be taken step-by-step through simple techniques and be able to practice them with different colours creating wonderful and surprising visual effects. Once you are confident, you'll be shown how to mix the techniques to experiment with mixed-media prints using transparent layers with textures and stencils to produce unusual and beautiful effects. Wear messy clothes or bring overalls / apron.

The workshop is suitable for those with little or no experience as well as advanced. All materials are included. There will be a 30 minute lunch break within the session - feel free to bring packed lunch to the studios.

The workshop is taught by Linda Newcombe, who is an artist who has been printmaking for over 35 years and includes it in her practice to play with ideas and colours. She is particularly keen on using printmaking to explore layers and experiment with different effects.
