Thu 11 Apr, 15:00 - 17:30

Visit Artist Katie Maria Francis at the Jelly studios at this open session as part of her two week residency. You will be able to chat to the artist, view her work, spend time and have a go at some of her techniques.

Katie Maria Francis is a multi-disciplinary artist who utilises different techniques such as drawing, photography, painting and collage. Her work is driven by social and political issues, often inspired by communities and emotion.

During the residency Katie Maria will be exploring ‘energy encounters’

The invisible world around us is a chaotic storm of energies, emotions, thoughts and ideas flying around. This world is full of energy encounters, some we’re aware of, and some not.

A moment of sadness belonging to another can quickly become your own, just as another’s moment of joy can be felt by others. What colour are these moments, what shape are they and how do they feel? Are they dark, abrasive, or repetitive? Joyous and sunshiney, odd, suspicious, or perhaps well rounded. Was it a sharp moment, or a sharp tone cutting through a softer moment, or perhaps a day of fractured moments- some unable to take a form, colour or shape? What colour was your bus journey?
