Reading Lantern Parade – Dance Of The Fireflies
On the 10th December, a magical winter lantern procession for everybody in the community will take place in Reading town centre.
A heart-warming celebration of the festive season filled with lights, music and community spirit. Walk together in lantern light and follow the glowing fireflies as they dance their way along Broad Street to Forbury Gardens.
Lantern Making Workshops
In the run up to the event lantern making workshops will be held across Reading so that everybody has the opportunity to come along and make their own beautiful willow and paper lantern for the procession. Each lantern workshop last two hours and will be supported by professional artists who will show you how to make your lantern and where to come on the day of the procession.
Reading buses will also be providing discounted travel from locations outside of the town centre for anybody coming in to take part in the procession with a lantern (travel vouchers will be given to those attending the workshops)
Access
The procession will move at a slow walking pace and accessible viewing areas will be available in Forbury Gardens.
The first floor at Blue Collar Food is not accessible for wheelchair users with accessible facilities. We are running a full programme of workshops in other accessible spaces - for more information or if you have any questions please email us at enquiries@jelly.org.uk
