Exploring Body and Mind through Tai Chi

Exploring Body and Mind through Tai Chi is a movement workshop led by Samantha Chang. The aim is to explore basic body and mind connection with the aid of Tai Chi. Through this, participants will learn basic Tai Chi forms and breathing techniques, and will then do some freeform movement exercises.

We will begin with a brief introduction to the history and benefits of Tai Chi, focusing on how we can use this as a daily practice.

Then, we will start by learning some basic forms from Yang Style 8 forms of Tai Chi (太極八式) This is a Tai Chi routine including the most essential and foundational eight movements, it is concise, easy to learn and is appropriate for beginners.

Finally, we will try to create new movement and forms with what we have learnt. This is to learn mindful movement and focus on the sensations of your body.

 

*No prior experience in Tai Chi is required. This workshop is open to all fitness levels and ages.
