Reading - A Town on Two Rivers
David Cliffe, a respected local historian, will talk on why the town grew up where it did, and the part the Thames and Kennet have played as a defensive barrier, a way of moving freight, a source of power, a water supply, a means of taking away waste water, and for recreation. It includes reference to many of Reading’s old industries along and using our local waterways.
NB: The original plan of Lionel Williams from the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Medical Museum speaking to BIAG about the hospital's history and the changes and growth of medical industries that it employed has had to be delayed.
