Looking for beginner sewing classes near Reading? This friendly Wednesday early evening course is a relaxed, creative way to learn to sew from scratch — perfect for complete beginners wanting to fit learning around work and family life.
You'll start with the fundamentals — threading and setting up your machine, winding bobbins, adjusting tension, and understanding fabric grain — before progressing to dressmaking techniques including various seam finishes, zip insertions, pleats, and pockets. The course finishes with a project of your own choice, guided from pattern to finished piece.
Ideal if you have little or no experience, want to learn properly in a supportive setting, and dream of making your own clothes or home accessories.
What to bring: sewing machine, extension lead, thread, fabric scissors (pattern and fabric needed once you reach your project).
