Check out the artists that will be performing live:
- Du'val
- Daneo
- Bethia
Alex West and Nicky Booty from BBC Introducing Berkshire highlight upcoming local artists, giving you the chance to see the hottest new music in Berkshire, at your students union! This time out Artist In Residence Du'val is joined by rapper Daneo, and singer Bethia.
Opening up the night is Earley's Bethia. An up-and-coming soulful, R&B, and pop artist, Bethia takes influence from the likes of Ariana Grande, Sinead Harnett and Kiana Ledé. Her tracks have been supported by Spotify Editorial Playlists including “Brand New Chill” and “New Music Friday Denmark”, and she's successfully used her fanbase on Tiktok to amass over 1.5m streams on Spotify.
Next up, Daneo. Hailing from Reading, Daneo is quickly gaining notoriety in his hometown and across the UK for his distinct tone and unique writing style. Working with many of the underground rap scene, and partnering Songer in music collective ‘Hard Reality’ - the rising rapper is certainly on his way to cement his name in a lane not many reside, with eclectic influences from 50 Cent and Lil Wayne, to Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake. This range of sounds would lead him to creating his first body of work, Perfect Paranoia, an ode to how his flaws became one the biggest catalysts of his success.
Finally, BBC Berkshire's Artist In Residence for May 2023, Du'val, takes to the stage. Du'val started out by rapping grime cyphers to beats played through the speakers of mobile phones. Quickly discovering a knack for songwriting, he began writing hooks for various local rappers. This would later lead on to professional writing opportunities, including with Warner Chappel Music Group, where he went on to write music that's been used as film and production music worldwide. Now focussed on his solo career, Du'val has used his songwriting ability to create upbeat pop tracks, which make for a vibrant and moving live set.
