The Mayor of Reading’s Christmas Card Competition

Every Christmas, the mayor of reading sends Christmas cards to those who they have worked with closely and have contributed to reading, as well as charities, organisations and Reading’s twin towns.

This year, the mayor of reading, cllr Rachel Eden, wants to give children and young people the opportunity to design the card and is holding a competition to choose a winning Christmas card design.

There will be three age groups with a winner chosen from each age group and an overall winner:

• Up to 7 (early years to year 2)
• 7-11 (year 3 – year 6)
• 11+ (year 7 upwards)

All entries must follow the criteria listed:

• The card must be A5. No bigger, no smaller.
• A design on the theme of Reading and Christmas.
• Suitable for printing and distribution to people who make Reading a special place.
• A range of materials can be used to produce the card but it must be suitable for printing so no glitter, foiled reflects, relief or cut-outs.
• All entries must include the full name of the designer, age, contact telephone number, email address and school (if applicable) written on the back of the design.

The winning entries will be displayed in the Mayor’s parlour and the winners will be invited for mince pies with their guests. The overall winner will have their entry printed and will receive copies of their card to distribute to family and friends as well as knowing that their design will sent out to hundreds of people across Reading and beyond!
