Jazz in Woodcote: The Fleur Stevenson Quartet
An evening of swinging jazz standards featuring Stuart Henderson on Trumpet and Hugh Turner on Guitar, with Howard King on double bass.
Jazz singer Fleur Stevenson is a familiar face on the London jazz scene, Fleur is gifted with a honeyed tone, an offbeat sense of humour and a naturally charismatic stage presence.
Stuart Henderson was principal trumpet of The Scots Guards Band in Her Majesty’s Household Division from 1983 – 2005. Since leaving he has become a fixture on the UK jazz scene appearing with many of the countries finest jazz musicians.
Hugh Turner started playing guitar at age 11 and by 13 he was playing with his brother’s blues band in pubs and clubs around his native home-town of Reading. He is recognised individually as one of the region’s finest jazz guitarists. His influences range from George Benson and John Scofield through to Grant Green and Jimi Hendrix.
