Irish Roots | New works inspired by traditional melodies

Described by The Strad as presenting “a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality”, the award-winning Carducci Quartet is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.

Irish Roots is a new project from the Carducci Quartet exploring the deep resonance of Ireland’s folk heritage through the lens of the string quartet. The Carduccis have commissioned fresh works inspired by traditional melodies — reimagined for four strings. Blending the rhythmic vitality and lyrical beauty of Irish folk tradition with the expressive possibilities of the classical quartet, Irish Roots brings centuries-old music into a vibrant contemporary concert setting. The programme offers audiences a journey through Ireland’s musical landscape, where tradition and innovation meet!
