Heritage Open Days 2023
14 & 16 Sep, 9:50
Walking from North/East side of Caversham Bridge to Duke Street Bridge over or under all bridges on Thames & Kennet enroute. Discovering history, their importance & so much more! East along Thames Path to Horseshoe Bridge & into Reading via Towpath.
A linear walk starting at Caversham Bridge and finishing at Duke Street Bridge by Terry's Reading Walkabouts including all the bridges on the Thames and Kennet en route. Discovering their history, the importance of both rivers and so much more! We follow the Thames Path walking East to Horseshoe Bridge (mouth of the Kennet) and come back into the centre of Reading via the Towpath.
Learn more about all the bridges, The Thames & The Kennet, as well as Thames Lido along the way. Fun facts & lots of opportunity to ask questions. Suitable for all ages.
Donations welcome. Suggested donation £5 for adults & £1 for children aged over 5. Operating as Terry's Reading Walkabouts, I have been leading guided walks in Reading for over six years, taking out well over 2,500 people including children, and making over £12,500 for mainly local charities. All the money from my walkabouts goes to charity or likewise groups.
Easy walking at an average pace, but you will need to be able to walk 2.6 miles. Not wheelchair accessible unfortunately due to Steps over horseshoe bridge & in other places, all the rest is on the flat.
Hopefully finishing at a local town centre café. You may wish to join me for a cuppa, loo & a short chat after we finish, if possible.
