The Sunday Alternative - Stories

Why we tell them and why we shouldn’t always listen

The next Assembly is about our stories.

This month we welcome David Robertson, a long-time friend of the Assembly. You will most probably know David best as the creator of the Free Radicals Improv Group.

Why do we create stories about ourselves? Not novels but those personal histories where we play the central role - why we are the way we are and how we get to this place in our lives. And how true are they? This month will be a little philosophical and a little interactive and a lot of fun.

Then add all the other elements of The Sunday Alternative to find out why The Rising Sun Arts Centre is the best place to be on a Sunday morning. Find lovey people, live music, interesting ideas, some silliness and cakes.

About The Sunday Alternative

The Sunday Alternative is a SECULAR congregation that celebrates life, meeting once a month in Reading. Members of the Assembly believe in Living Better, Helping Often and Wondering More, for no other reason than to make the most of the one life we know we have. In the company of a lovely diverse bunch of people, the morning is a lively combination of group singing, silly games, interesting words, and eating cake.

The Sunday Alternative welcomes all - of all ages and all backgrounds.

The Sunday Alternative is free to attend and runs entirely on donations.

The best way to meet new people is to come early and enjoy some tea, coffee, homemade cakes, and savouries (all vegan-friendly).

Doors open at 10:30 am for teas and chats. The Assembly begins at 11 am and ends at about 12:15 am. Then more coffee and cakes until 1 pm. After we find a pub or a space in the park if the weather is kind.

Note: The December Assembly will be on 18th December in the late AFTERNOON and the Rising Sun Arts Centre.
