Anxious
A play by doris allimadi
A 50 minute play following the journey of a Black teenage girl suffering from anxiety. She suffers in silence until it is almost TOO late because she fears no one will understand her, least of all her mother who has always opined that ''anxiety was the disease of rich white women"!
Following an incident, the young girl's mother is forced to re-think her opinion.
The young girl then makes an impassioned plea to society to treat mental health as though it were as important as physical health in order to make it easier for sufferers to seek professional support without the burden of the stigma still very much prevalent.
