Alison Cotton + support

Thurs 18 April, doors 7.30pm

South Street are delighted to welcome back Alison Cotton after her rapturously received appearance in October. This time Alison will be playing as a duo and plays in support of her acclaimed new album, Engelchen, out on Rocket Recordings.

Since her first solo work manifested in 2018, Alison Cotton has quietly become one of the UK’s most extraordinarily evocative aural explorers, building eerily arcane tapestries of supernatural beauty from her multi-layered viola, incantatory vocals and harmonium.

Support comes from Reading's own The Pawnbroker, as piano and voice duo, weaving hushed magic from minimal but melodic songs.

Doors: 7.30pm
The Pawnbroker: 8 - 8.30pm
Alison Cotton: 8.50 - 9.50pm

“The power of this music is simply awe-inspiring.”

The Quietus

“An eerie, lost folk horror soundtrack glinting in the sunshine.”

The Guardian

“I cannot recommend this record highly enough as astonishing as it is astounding and I sense I am not alone in this.”

Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev)
