Tribute Night: U2

“What more, in the name of love?”

The 2024 summer edition of Tribute Night continues our epic journey through the lush, eclectic landscape of popular music, stopping where the streets have no name.

Emerging from the post-punk of the late ’70s, U2 opened a rich seam of politically charged battle cries and tender tales of love and loss, channeling their desire for moody, etheral textures through precision-tooled rock anthems and intimate ballads, and setting their sights on becoming the biggest rock’n’roll band in the world…

Expect to hear a variety of folks playing a variety of U2 songs in a variety of ways, not necessarily faithfully...

  • If you want to be involved and play a song or two at the U2 night, then email Zac at tributenight@hotmail.co.uk. You can bagsy a slot first if you haven’t decided on a song.
  • If you are a musician/singer and you want to be involved, but you don’t know other people to play or sing with, send an email and we’ll have a go at matching you up with others.
  • If you want to record yourself performing a U2 song, or indeed a song by any artist previously featured at Tribute Night, please send them to me to post on the Tribute Night Facebook page.

As usual, there is no admission fee, but donations will be collected during the interval – suggested donation £5 – cash, card or QR code to PayPal.

All donations go to the Rising Sun Arts Centre, which is a registered charity funded mostly by its own earned income, and staffed by volunteers.

Doors open at 8pm for a prompt 8:30pm start.
