Three day all-ages charity festival by the bank of the Thames in Caversham, Reading returns this summer!!

FRIDAY 14th - SUNDAY 16th of JULY 2022 - CHRISTCHURCH MEADOWS, CAVERSHAM, READING

PIP BLOM, ROZI PLAIN AND MF TOMLINSON JOIN SLEEPER, RONI SIZE, JUNGLE BROTHERS AND SNAPPED ANKLES AMONGST OTHERS ON READIPOP FESTIVAL 2023’s DAY SPLIT LINE-UP ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Readipop Festival will return this summer to Christchurch Meadows, by the banks of the River Thames (just a stones throw from Reading Station) between Friday the 14th and Sunday the 16th of July for its 6THAnniversary!! And we are excited to announce some of our biggest acts to date!

Over its 6 years of existence the festival has come to be a much eagerly anticipated date in the community of Readings calendar. Not only for being an event that broadly stretches across all types of music, ensuring that there is something to entertain an audience of all ages. But also for supporting the amazing work within the community that Readipop as a charity does!

Celebrating it’s 25th year of using music to change lives, Readipop as a charity has grown into being an essential resource within the community of Reading. Working across a number of projects, including music based mentoring with young people facing challenging circumstances, all the way up to weekly music workshops open to all ages and abilities.

So at Readipop Festival 2023 we are so excited to be able to platform many of those involved in the various projects on our stages across the weekend. Not to mention also supporting a number of local acts by giving them the opportunity to perform on stage with the exact same level of technical support as the headlining acts.

And what a selection we of headlining acts we have for this year!!

Including:

Jungle Brothers:

Stars of the golden age of US hip hop and known as the pioneers of the fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and house music. The Jungle Brothers success would pave the way for De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and eventually the Native Tongues collective that they founded.

Professor Green:

Firmly established as one of the crossover superstars of British music, the Hackney born and raised rapper otherwise known as Stephen Manderson has released two Top 3 albums and amassed a career tally of over 3 million combined sales in the UK alone.  He has completed four headline tours and performed on the main stages of countless festivals such as Glastonbury, V Festival and Wireless.  Over the past couple of years he has also presented five critically acclaimed BBC documentaries and continues his ongoing work as Patron of anti-suicide charity CALM.

Roni Size:

Roni Size is one of the U.K. jungle scene's most respected names, with production credits spanning dozens of labels, projects and releases. Size's influence as a producer, label owner, and committed underground magnate figured him as one of the emerging sound's true pioneers.

Sleeper:

A seminal Britpop group - they had eight UK hit singles and three UK Top 10 albums during the 1990s and featured in the soundtrack of the pop cultural hit movie Trainspotting.

Snapped Ankles:

Outsider status has always allowed them to hold a mirror up to society. Now the boundaries are not so clear. In the four years since Come Play The Trees was released, their cult has flourished. As those who have witnessed the shamanic ritual of their live shows will attest, they are a truly unique, communal experience.

Pip Blom: is a Dutch indie band from Amsterdam. The band is named after lead singer Pip Blom. The band has released two full-length albums. Their first album titled Boat was released in 2019.[1][2] In 2021, Pip Blom released their second full-length album titled Welcome Break.[3][4][5] The album received positive reviews.

Rozi Plain: Rozi is a wonderful singer-songwriter based in Bristol, born in Winchester. Her voice fills her listeners with warmth and admiration and she has a wonderful open-ness on stage. She belongs to the cleaner records gang, a close-knit bunch of clever musicians including Rozi Plain, Rachael Dadd, Romanhead, and Greg Ashby. She is a member of This Is the Kit and regularly contributes[when?] to the music of her friends, including Rachael DaddFrançois & the Atlas Mountains,[4] and Bamboo, with whom she has performed live on a number of occasions in 2016.

MF Tomlinson:

MF Tomlinson is an Australian-born, London-based artist who, with his collaborators the MFs, crafts sonic worlds that draw upon acid folk, prog, jazz and ambient music - lying somewhere between Bill Callahan, Yo La Tengo, and Leonard Cohen. His second album, We Are Still Wild Horses, was released February ‘23 on PRAH to a remarkable critical reception (★★★★ The Times, Uncut, Mojo, The Line of Best Fit). Their compelling live show has earned them supports with Dry Cleaning and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and a set at Latitude in '22.

We are also thrilled to announce 31 different Local Acts that have been co selected by us and BBC Introducing Berkshire to perform across our stages over the course of the weekend. We work hard to support the local talent pool, so we try to ensure that all the local acts feature across all our publicity and that at the event itself they will be given the same tech and production support as the headliners!! They even get a 15% return on the face value of all tickets sold through their own unique ticket selling link.  o come.

In addition to the music, attendees can enjoy local real ales and craft beer supplied by Readings own Purple Turtle, delicious street food, a record store and a Reading Etsy team market full of festival friendly arts, crafts and clothes stalls and a family area with free storytellers, arts & crafts, dance and music workshops.

Weekend and Day Tickets are available now starting from just £20! at readipop.co.uk/festival
