Sarah Bolter with the Mike Goff Trio

Jazz with the Multi Talented Saxophonist, Flautist and Vocalist

The multi-talented Sarah performs her favourite tunes and songs from the jazz repertoire.

 

Sarah started performing at the age of 11 with her first solo spot being on the clarinet with the Johnny Howard Big Band at the Pavilion in Bournemouth. By13yrs Sarah was playing most weekends with the New Dorset Dance Orchestra and went on to join her first original band at 15 and spend all school holidays in the local recording studio, Arnie’s Shack, either guesting on albums or recording new material.

Sarah went on later to further study at Southampton University specialising in jazz alto and classical soprano saxophone and formed her own band “Not Just Sax” in 2001. The band have recorded 6 albums with the last one being produced by Jools Holland sax player, Derek Nash. Sarah also formed a more ‘London’ based band- Sarah Bolter & ‘Sax in The City’, performing regularly at venues including Pizza Express Soho, Toulouse Lautrec and the CAA Club in London. 

As well as performing extensively with her own bands, Sarah freelances and works as a session musician, pit musician and music teacher and has performed at the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival, Jazz on The Meadow, Newport Jazz Festival, Brighton Fringe Festival, Swanage Jazz Festival and a number a jazz clubs. Sarah also works on a variety of theatre shows including Bowie, Meatloaf, Cher, Abba and the Rat Pack has guested on many albums, including 3 by internationally acclaimed progressive rock band, Galahad.
