Join us for a short eventide walk through woods and over open fields from Clayfield Copse. As the golden sun sets, we will take time to tune into the sights and sounds of the evening and look (and listen) out for owls, deer, and more!

More detail
This 5 -mile circular walk explores the undulating countryside of the Chilterns just to the north of Reading. The walk is stile free and has a total ascent of approx. 300 ft / 92 m, with one significant down and up. We start out from Clayfield Copse. Our route takes us through Dunsden Green with its old village well, then out over the fields. Here we can pause to enjoy the commanding views over Reading and the Thames. The path descends and then rises again to reach the little chapel at Binfield Heath. From here we mostly follow old lanes and tracks, via Dunsden Church, to return to Clayfield Copse. The mix of woods and fields offers good opportunities to spot wildlife (deer, owls etc). We walk at a moderate pace but pause along the way to tune into the twilight of eventide. We plan to finish our walk just after sunset - wrap up warm and REMEMBER TO BRING A GOOD TORCH (a head torch is ideal)! Walking boots/shoes advised. Paths may be rough, muddy and steep in part. A small rucksack is useful for personal items such as water, snacks, spare clothing/waterproofs, personal meds, etc
