River Kennet and Green Park

Reading Walks Festival 2024

A linear walk exploring Reading's transport systems, ancient and modern, along the canal to Green Park. Returning to Reading town centre by train via the new Green Park station. The walk leaves the town centre to follow the green corridor of the River Kennet to the old Fobney water works and then carries on to explore the footpath network within the Green Park development. It passes the iconic turbine, before reaching Green Park station to catch the train back to Reading station. (Walkers will need to pay their own train fare, and there is the alternative of a bus back to the town centre, if preferred).

Depending on how the time of the end of the walk dovetails with the train timetable, it may be possible to visit Triple Two Cafe just before the walk finishes.
