More detail
We start our walk at Caversham Bridge, before heading along the Thames Path with the river on our left. We will follow the towpath until we reach Caversham Lock, where we'll cross the charming lock bridge and over the weir where we pass right beside the Archimedes Screw turbines, a great spot to pause and watch the water flowing through. From here we will continue onto View Island, a peaceful nature reserve with winding paths, wildlife, and views back toward Reading. After exploring the island we will exit and make our way back towards Christchurch Bridge. We'll pause on the bridge to take in the scenery and then follow the riverside path back to Caversham Bridge, completing a scenic and easy circular walk rich with riverside charm.
