A sociable walk along the Thames Path starting in Henley with titbits of information along the way.
Type of Walk
Sociable walk - make new friends while walking
More detail
Walking the Thames Path starting at Henley Railway Station and heading west to end in Reading. Learn about Henley and the river as we head along the Prom to Marsh Lock. Unfortunately, there will be a U-turn at this point as the footbridge is close and a diversion through Harpsden woods. We then rejoin the path at Shiplake and are riverside until all the way to Reading Bridge. The walk passes Shiplake College and then on to Sonning and crosses from Oxfordshire into Berkshire. Approaching Reading we cross over the River Kennet and enter Reading to learn about power and murder! The walk ends at Reading Railway Station. If the river is in flood or dangerously high, we may need to change the route accordingly. This would be over open farm land on public footpaths.
Stout footwear required (not wellies!). Be prepared for mud if has been wet. Bring packed lunch, snacks and a drink as there are no shops along the route. There will be short rest breaks and a lunch break.
