The walk will explore the heart of medieval Reading under the guidance of Reading Museum's trained volunteer guides. The tours will focus on the highlights of the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium where medieval pilgrims stayed, the impressive, conserved Reading Abbey ruins and the Abbey Gateway, the grand entrance to the Abbot's Lodgings which became Queen Elizabeth I's royal residence.
There is a cafe/restaurant in the Museum and Town Hall building where the tour starts, and there are toilets (including disabled toilets) next the to Museum's reception desk.

The tour will be led by an experienced Reading Museum Volunteer Tour Guide. This group of knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers bring a wealth of lifelong love for this town and at least 5 years of training and experience leading Reading Museum's official public tours.
