David Hockney is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, and an important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s. He is not just a painter but has also been a draughtsman, printmaker and photographer. In 2018 Hockney's 1972 work ‘Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)’ sold at Christie's in New York for £70 million, becoming the most expensive artwork by a living artist sold at auction.
This illustrated talk is being presented by local artist and art teacher Keith Appleby. Keith’s main work has been as a photographer and printmaker but he now also works in three dimensions. He is a regular on the Henley Arts Trail and exhibits widely.
