Songs of the Ice: Creative Writing Workshop

Saturday 15th June 2024, 11:00am - 4:00pm

Join acclaimed poet and teacher Lesley Saunders for a workshop exploring the significance of the ice-bound lands of the far north, in reality and imagination, inspired by how artist Julian Grater has been exploring the contemporary high arctic through painting, drawing and photography.

Curator Elaine Blake will introduce us to the exhibition with its underlying theme of profound environmental and social change, and we will discuss the effect of Julian’s work on us as writers.

We will also look at some poems stimulated by the cold and distant lands of the north. There will then be plenty of time to work individually and to compose a piece of writing of your own. Please bring materials to write on and with.

The Museum café will be open and there are several places to eat nearby.
