Pop in and enjoy these great fun activities all throughout the school holidays!

Drop in throughout the week to create some fun paper craft. Donations welcome, drop in.

The BIG Multicoloured Easter Egg Hunt: Throughout the Easter Holidays.

Find the colourful eggs hidden throughout the Museum. When you have found them all, go and collect your chocolate prize! Even our youngest visitors can enjoy this trail. Families, £2 per trail, pay on the day or book online here.

The Fantastic Chocolate Dig! Tuesday 2 April

Step into the shoes of an expert and excavate a small block of chocolate, complete with edible artefacts, including chocolate eggs! Please be aware that this activity will contain dairy products and may contain nuts so may not be suitable for those with allergies. Ages 5+, Families, 1-hour sessions starting at 10am, 11.15am, 1pm & 2.15pm. £5, book online here.

Make & Take: Museum Modelling: Wednesday 3 April

Create some wonderful models using air dry clay inspired by our collection, from artic animals to miniature Roman lamps. Families, half-hour sessions 10am – 12pm & 1pm – 3pm. £2, pay on the day, drop in

Mini Museum Club: Thursday 4 April

Explore and handle some fascinating objects from our Loans Box collection. Learn how to document and store your favourite toy or keepsake. Make a mini-Museum display box to take home with you to store your own special artefacts. Ages 5+, Families, 1-hour sessions starting at 10am, 11.15am, 1pm & 2.15pm. £4, book online here.

Victorian Schoolroom Experience in the Gateway: Friday 5 April

Meet a Victorian schoolteacher and re-learn the ‘3Rs’. A 45-minute experience for adults and children over 5 in our unique Victorian classroom, in the historic Abbey Gateway. Please note that the Gateway has no step free access and there are uneven steps and floors. Ages 5+, 11am & 2pm (meeting at the Abbey Gateway). £1 per person, pay on the day or book online here.

Museums, My Way Craft Sessions: Monday 8 April

Special craft sessions based on our Easter events aimed at neurodivergent visitors and their families to complement our regular Saturday sessions. A breakout room, Quiet areas with tents and cushions and sensory bags will be available. Please note that the Museum will be closed, except for those taking part in the sessions. Families, 1-hour sessions starting at 10am, 11.15am, 1pm & 2.15pm. The BIG Artwork: Arctic Mirage: Wednesday 10 April

Join New Directions to celebrate Reading Museum’s Arctic Mirage exhibition. Artists from New Directions will be on hand to help you create some wonderful artwork influenced by artist Julian Grater’s work. Add your favourite artic animals into his frozen landscapes using collage and other mediums. No experience necessary, all welcome. All ages, 10am – 3pm. Free, Donations welcome, drop in

Northern Lights Lantern: Thursday 11 April
