Roof Garden Open Day
An Edible Forest in Reading Town Centre
Drop in between 12pm and 4pm on Sunday 22 May
Can fruit and nut trees grow on a foot of soil?
How does a structure take the weight of an actual forest?
Find out the answers to these questions and more at our award-winning sustainable garden.
Our forest garden is a variation of the permaculture approach – using a carefully selected combination of perennial herbaceous plants, shrubs, trees and climbers in a planting scheme which mimics a multi-layered woodland ecosystem. This creates the conditions which support great diversity.
You'll be able to learn about our water harvesting methods and the innovative use of renewable/recycled/ reused materials in our hard landscaping.
