Exit 6 Short Film Showcase

Join the Exit 6 team for an evening showcasing some of our favourite short films from previous festival years in honour of our tenth anniversary!
Exit 6 Film Festival is a vibrant celebration of independent cinema set in the heart of Basingstoke. Every September, we curate an all-day diverse programme of short films of all genres from stunningly talented UK and international filmmakers, many of whom have gone on to stellar industry careers. We’re listed in Film Freeway’s Top 100 festivals in the world and received our BIFA accreditation in 2023.
Ahead of the tenth edition of Exit 6 at the Vue Basingstoke in September 2025, we're hosting a series of themed showcase evenings featuring films from years gone by, so you can get a flavour of how amazing the Exit 6 Film Festival selection is every year, and we can enjoy watching them again!
If you love film, bring yourselves and your friends along for a fabulous evening of independent short films made by the stars of the future! Check out exit6filmfestival.com for more info.
Festival Director, Mark Brennan, said:
“Ahead of our tenth anniversary this year we want to show everyone the superb quality of the films our festival has to offer. Every year we select the best 45 short films from hundreds of submissions and the filmmaking talent, innovation and brilliance on show is truly inspiring.”
“We are curating a series of themed showcase evenings to highlight some of our very best films from previous years. This showcase, in conjunction with Reading Biscuit Factory, will be a ‘Best Of Exit 6’ night and features shorts from filmmakers who’ve gone on to make film and TV for Netflix, Channel 4 and the BBC, and be nominated for Emmy and BAFTA awards!”
The films at the festival itself are screened over one day with Q&As from attending filmmakers, industry talks and a late-night Awards Party included. Film Freeway ranks it among the top 100 film festivals in the world as voted for by filmmakers, in 2023 it received the prestigious British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) accreditation and the team hope to be successful in their BAFTA accreditation application over the coming year.
Mark added, “We have everything on offer from comedy to horror, dramas to love stories, animation, documentaries and everything in between. Anyone who loves watching film will have an amazing day at Exit 6, and we hope that people will come along to this showcase to find out more and have a brilliant evening of quality film watching!”
