NUETOPIA Volume 4: Another journey by DJ through the music of Reading's classic lost nightclubs Nue Valbonnes and Utopia.
Reading has a rich history of great and sometimes cheesy nightclubs. It's once again time to celebrate them with another night of bangers from Reading's defunct classic nightclubs! we're talking 90s dance and house, with some hip-hop and RnB.
We have three great DJs including Tasha KP - a professional female DJ who broke boundaries in the 90s as one of the first female DJs to be played on Radio 1's Essential Selection - plus Reading's own DJ Galeforce and DJ Russ G.
It will be a night packed full of 90s clubbing nostalgia and a fair few glow sticks!
Tasha KP is a techno and rave DJ, who has been bringing her trademark hard uplifting grooves and breakbeats to clubs and festivals since 1990. In the early 90s she had shows on the underground radio station Chillin’ FM, and Kiss FM, and was one of the first women DJs to produce a Radio 1 Essential Mix (08/06/1997). Tasha has Dj’d worldwide at Megadog, Club UK, Rezerection and Tresor (Berlin), and more recently at Readipop 2022, Rave Nation (CZ), Bearded Theory Festival, Stay Up Forever @the Fold (London), and the Vixen Festival @the Fox and Hounds. She has released a number of her own records and an album ‘Shake ‘n’ Vac (1997).
DJ Galeforce (Chris G) has been djing since the early 2000s. From house parties to clubs via pubs, bars, festivals, and community radio. He has played a wide range of genres in various venues such as: Milk, Oakford Social Club, the Afterdark, Fez Club, Po Na Na's, the Purple Turtle, Blue Collar, and many more. Expect the unexpected, with aspects of rave, jungle, house, garage, and breakbeat.
Russ G has Dj’d at the After Dark, Purple Turtle, Milk, Oakford Social Club, Fox & Hounds, Reading University, Face Bar & Blue Collar. He is also a songwriter, guitarist, instrument maker, guitar tech and DJ. He's been obsessed with music for as long as he can remember, whether it be Dance, Hip-hop, Rock, Indie, Metal, or Blues/Jazz. Russ loves the buzz of playing live music, as a DJ or guitarist, and interacting with the vibe of the audience to create a great gig.
