Paying It Forward
celebrating the legacy of C V Stanford
-
Our concert consists of works by 11 different composers, from Brahms to James Macmillan. These composers have in common that they either influenced or were influenced by Charles Villiers Stanford – he died on 29th March 1924.
The works include serious religious pieces e.g. Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc in C , and lighter works e.g. Coleridge Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding. See our website for a complete list.
We are delighted to have the celebrated tenor James Gilchrist joining us to sing pieces by Muriel Herbert as well as the solo part in Hiawatha’s Wedding and very pleased to be working with Southern Sinfonia again.
