Lino printing in colour -Workshop

Learn to design and carve your lino block and you'll then be able to print from it using different colours

Sun 13 Oct, 11:00 - 16:00

A refreshing take on lino printing. We'll show you how to design and carve your lino block and you'll then be able to print from it using different colours.

You'll be making a repeatable design that you can then overprint with coloured transparent layers, taking full advantage of the creative possibilities of layering and colour gradients.

It's a fun and engaging session.

You'll be using washable oil-based inks so please wear old clothes you don't mind staining. Overalls can protect your frontage, and we have vinyl gloves to keep your hands ink-free. Ink takes at least 24 hours to dry so please bring something to transport your A4 work home in.

The workshop is suitable for those with little or no experience as well as advanced, you'll need some manual dexterity to manage the block cutting. There will be a 30 minute lunch break within the session - feel free to bring packed lunch to the studios.

The workshop is taught by Linda Newcombe, who is an artist who has been printmaking for over 35 years and includes it in her practice to play with ideas and colours. Having made a mess of her first forays into lino printing, she returned to is after 30 years and loves what it offers. She is particularly keen on using printmaking to explore layers and experiment with different effects, and likes the bold shapes and textures lino affords.

This workshop is for adults. Please note that this workshop needs a minimum number of bookings to go ahead.
