Impressions of the Human Form

Exploring Traditional and Modern Drawing Techniques

Sun 14 Sep, 11:00 - 16:00

Using the human form as our basis, this workshop will explore both traditional and modern drawing techniques. From red chalk sketching to bold contour drawing, you will be taken through various techniques to gain a deeper understanding of both classic and contemporary drawing methods. Starting with red chalk and graphite we will study drawing techniques such as tonal sketching and creating hair and skin textures. This will then contrast with modern techniques like minimalistic sketching and the introduction of colour. By the end of the workshop, students will have a deeper understanding of various drawing methods.

The workshop is suitable for those with a little experience as well as more advanced. All materials are included. There will be a 30 minute lunch break within the session - feel free to bring packed lunch to the studios.

Artist bio: The workshop is taught by Antoinette Brown, who is an artist and art educator who specialises in drawing and painting. Her own practice centres around the intricacies of human experience. Predominantly using graphite, her current work illuminates the often-overlooked yet significant moments of motherhood.
