Nat Steele MJQ Quartet: A Portrait of the MJQ (Modern Jazz Quartet): Nat Steele vibraphone, Gabriel Lachin piano, Dario Di Lecce bass, Steve Brown drums
Nat Steele, vibraphonist and co-founder of the Bop Fest Jazz Festival, who grew up in Reading, brings his quartet to the Progress Theatre to pay homage to the MJQ (Modern Jazz Quartet), one of the most successful and influential groups of the 20th century.
Nat will be joined by three of the brightest stars on the UK Jazz Scene, Gabriel Lachin, Dario Di Lecce and Steve Brown, to present 'Portrait of the MJQ', featuring such stellar favourites as 'Django', 'Softly as in a Morning Sunrise', 'Bag's Groove', and a complete performance for the four-movement 'La Ronde Suite', which showcases each member of the quartet in turn.
The Quartet's debut album 'Portrait of the MJQ' was awarded Jazz Album of the Month by the BBC Music Magazine and described as 'creative brilliance' by Peter Vacher in his 4-star review in Jazzwise Magazine.
