Matt Skelton presents The Blackhawk Quintet: Celebrating Shelly Manne

-

Matt Skelton Blackhawk Quintet: James Davison, trumpet; Mark Crooks, tenor saxophone; Leon Greening, piano; Conor Chaplin, bass; Matt Skelton, drums.

This will be a cool night of jazz inspired by the multi-poll winning drummer Shelly Manne, one of the greats of the 1950s' American West Coast jazz scene, and in particular, the band he led with a clutch of golden performances, captured live at the Blackhawk Club, San Francisco in September 1959.

Tonight's stellar line up has been hand-picked  by Matt Skelton for the way they each connect with, and are inspired by the original members of Shelly's quintet - Joe Gordon, trumpet; Ritchie Kamuca, tenor saxophone; Victor Feldman, piano and Monty Budwig, bass.

Matt Skelton's Blackhawk Quintet has taken the UK and international club scene by storm over the past year. Expect the fireworks to be flying!

'An evening of pure jazz joy ... Jazz nights don't come any better than this. We're still smiling.'  Watermill Jazz Club, Dorking
