Jazz at Progress: John Law's Re-Creations 'Many Moons'

-

John Law's Re-Creations: John Laws piano, Sam Crockatt saxophone, Henrik Jensen bass and Alex Goodyear drums.

Like all great ideas, the underlying concept for John Law's Re-Creations is simple. John Laws, described in International Piano magazine as, 'One of the UK's most imaginative and versatile jazz pianists', takes the best-known tunes from all genres - jazz, pop, indie, rock folk and classical - and re-creates them with new arrangements, new angles or even sometimes by spontaneously re-inventing them.

It's an exciting, inventive and freely expressive process, shared by Laws, his band of accomplished musicians and most importantly, the audience; no matter how complex and intricate the arrangements become, audiences everywhere always feel part of the experience, because they know the tune and recognise it when it comes back.

John Laws will be joined by Parliamentary Jazz Award winner Sam Crockatt, Danish bass player and composer Henrik Jensen and a new firebrand on the UK drumming scene, Alex Goodyear.

'This was the best and most dynamic of the Re-Creation shows that I have seen. Laws is a brilliant technician and his won playing was superb, as was that of his very able colleagues.' The Jazzmann
