The History of Reading Society are continuing their in person meetings at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading RG1 3BE, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) on Weds 17th May. John Nixon will be giving a talk entitled 'The Gentlemen Danes'.
John has researched into the lives of Danish prisoners of war, who came to Reading in the 1800s. This talk is based on his book, which will be on sale at the meeting.
There will also be a booksale at this meeting, all books very reasonably priced, so bring your cash and a bag or two to carry away your bargains!
This meeting is open to members and visitors (visitors £2 each). No need to book, just turn up on the night.
