The History of Reading Society are continuing their in person meetings at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading RG1 3BE, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) on Weds 20th September, when David Downs will be giving a talk entitled 'Biscuits and Royals'.
David, is well known in Reading as historian and fanatical supporter of Reading Football Club. David will bring along some ephemera from his personal collection and tell us about the goal keeper with the wooden leg and the one who scored twice in one game, the record defeat of 18 – 0, a cup final win at Wembley, the fan who slept overnight on the pitch and many more fascinating tales about RFC!
This meeting is open to members and visitors (visitors £2 each). No need to book, just turn up on the night.
